Association of Social Assistance ASSOC

The Non-Governmental Professional Association of Social Assistance ASSOC was established in 1995 in Baia Mare as an organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable people. At that time, it was among the first non-governmental organizations in the country accredited and licensed as a provider of social services.

Starting in 1997, the association developed services in the fields of child and elderly protection – day centers and home care services for people with disabilities, with significant contributions coming from ASSOC’s high-quality human resources: social workers, psychologists, doctors.

In recent years, ASSOC has managed large-scale national projects and has focused on developing social and entrepreneurial activities, employment and Training for Vulnerable Groups.

ASSOC is among the most active national organizations in the field of social economy and the provision of social services, with the long-term goal of facilitating labor market access for people with disabilities, the elderly, young people leaving the child protection system, Roma, and single-parent families.

The association has focused its efforts on finding economic program solutions that allow people with disabilities to become autonomous and not dependent on social services. This led to the creation of ASSOC’s social enterprises, such as the Social Restaurant, where many people with disabilities have found employment. Each of these units has been appreciated for best practices in integrating people from vulnerable groups.

The ASSOC association has carried out numerous projects aimed at improving the living conditions of disadvantaged groups. Among ASSOC’s highlights are: the Day Center for Adults with Disabilities, the ASSOC Social Canteen, the “Pinocchio” Care and Assistance Center, the Home Care Service for the Elderly, the Community Assistance Service for Young People, and the Complex of Maximum Protected Housing.
